Con-Verge

The South Gallery at the American Academy's Invitational Exhibition

On-Verge writers met for the second time at Two Boots and reflected  on the various events that took place throughout Manhattan during Armory Week.  The grand exhibition at the Chelsea Piers was considered largely uneventful, as a certain spark seemed to be missing.  However the large turn-out seen at the American Academy’s annual Invitational was impressive.

Kathryn Hamilton, Press Attaché for French Culture at the French Embassy, joined to recap the outstanding  presentation of video and performance art by Mircea Cantor, the 2011 Duchamp Laureate.  Hamilton also recommended SOTO Paris and Beyond, 1950-1970 at NYU’s Grey Art Gallery, which surveys the life and work of Jésus-Raphael Soto, a key figure of the Paris avant-garde.
