1. Special Events Internship, The American Federation of Arts (AFA)
Location: New York, NY

The American Federation of Arts (AFA) is seeking a part-time intern to
assist the Special Events department this fall. The Special Events
Internship provides hands-on event planning and fundraising experience
in a non-profit arts organization.

Key Responsibilities
-Assist with all aspects of planning for the Gala & Cultural
Leadership Awards on Wednesday, October 26, including assisting the
day of the event.
-Assist with planning other upcoming events, such as lectures,
members’ events, trips, etc.
-Draft correspondence and make telephone inquiries, as needed.
-Maintain paper and computer project files.
-Assist the department with additional administrative tasks, as needed.

-Undergraduate or graduate student interested in special events,
fundraising, or non-profit work.
-Previous event-planning experience preferred. Interest in arts and
culture a plus.
-Strong Microsoft office computer skills, particularly with Word and
Excel. Familiarity with Raiser’s Edge a plus.
-Excellent oral and written communications skills.
-Strong attention to detail and strong interpersonal skills.
-Able to follow-through and meet deadlines effectively and efficiently.

Additional Information
This internship is available for the fall semester: early September
through early December 2011

Minimum of 15 hours per week (this may vary)

This is a “non-paid” internship opportunity, course credit may be available.

2. Design Internship, VMG Creative
TERM: Unspecified

We are seeking a highly creative, talented and ambitious design intern
to join our group. The design intern will work closely with our
creative team of art directors and report to our executive creative
director. You’ve got a strong visual aesthetic and are capable of
coming up with ideas that can become campaigns. You’re fluent in
multiple platforms and can roll up your sleeves for production. A
desire to work at a place, and in a role, where you’ll get to put that
amazing skill set to good use.

3. Strategy Internship, LaPlaca Cohen

LaPlaca Cohen is a strategic marketing, advertising, and design firm
that helps cultural organizations better connect and communicate with
their audiences. Our work is rooted in a deep commitment to the power
of culture to engage, enlighten and inspire. We thrive on the dynamism
of the ever-changing cultural landscape and the opportunities it
creates. The Strategy and Branding department at LaPlaca Cohen works
with cultural clients on a wide variety of projects from strategic
planning to audience development to marketplace positioning.

The Strategy Intern will provide administrative support on all
Strategy and Branding department projects. Tasks include conducting
research for client pitches and presentations, transcribing research
interviews and meeting notes, preparing materials for company speaking
engagements, and supporting ongoing research on cultural audience
engagement trends. The Strategy Intern will gain valuable insight into
the dynamics of the relationships between cultural organizations and
the consulting firms they retain to support their artistic missions
and engage broader audiences.

A minimum commitment of 2–3 days per week is required. Candidates
should hold an undergraduate degree and demonstrate an interest in the
cultural sector. Students currently enrolled in graduate school are
encouraged to apply. A modest stipend is available for qualified
candidates who are not completing their internship for academic
credit. An early September 2012 start date is preferred. Please email
