The much-anticipated news of the New Museum’s focus on 1993 was released this morning. It was a magic year despite the economic recession left by former President George H.W. Bush. Bill Clinton had just been sworn into office and the World Trade Center was bombed for the first time. The economic bubble was growing as the United States began to change its policies about globalizing its economy. The calm before the storm, framed by the music of Sonic Youth, NYC 1993: Experimental Jet Set, Trash and No Star opens on February 13, 2013 and sets out to reconstruct this defining moment.
